Africa-Press – Angola. The national director of the Angolan Youth Institute, Yuri Cardoso, defended (Thursday), in Luanda, the increase in entrepreneurial initiatives, through cooperatives, with a view to reducing unemployment among young people and reducing poverty within families.

Speaking at the opening of the 1st Forum on Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Financial Inclusion, held in the municipality of Viana, the youth leader stressed that this aim can be achieved through the creation of cooperatives, whose projects are more likely to benefit from credit.

“We all have to work together to increase the number of young people employed, entrepreneurship and creating jobs”, he said, stressing that it is necessary for young people to interact to find the best solutions to the problems that hamper the project/financing binomial.

However, the person in charge advised young people against investing only in micro-credit and trying other Executive initiatives such as the Credit Support Program (PAC), where financing is around 50 million kwanzas and is focused on national production.

According to him, meetings like the one now open serve to enable youth associations and state institutions responsible for public policies to follow a joint path to increase the number of young people undertaking business.

For his part, the president of the Association for the Promotion of Youth Employment (APEJ), Bernardo André, understands that the forum intends to help young entrepreneurs with financial inclusion, with the support of banks, through their digital platforms.

The official added that APEJ is betting on national production as a guarantee of the country’s economic sustainability, abandoning dependence on imported products and oil.

The forum, which lasts three days, features a fair where young entrepreneurs exhibit products, ranging from agriculture, fishing, service provision, digital banking, cutting and sewing.

The Youth Employability Promotion Association (APEJ) is a non-profit non-governmental organization, created with the aim of promoting actions that contribute to youth employability, nationwide, being represented in Luanda, Bengo and Malanje.
