Angolan company plans to invest USD 5 million in agrominerals

Africa-Press – Angola. Around five million US dollars (USD 1 is worth 832 kwanzas) is the amount that the Angolan company Engineering Services Angola (ESA) intends to invest, soon, in agromineral projects, for the production of 150 thousand to 200 thousand tons of minerals per year.

To implement the investment, the Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO) and ESA signed, this Friday, in Luanda, a technical-scientific cooperation memorandum, which will allow the creation of 30 to 40 jobs.

The agreement, initialed by the president of the IGEO Board of Directors, José Manuel, and by the director general of ESA, Eduardo Neto, also aims to establish the exchange of scientific information, the carrying out of joint missions, collaboration in geological and geo-scientific research.

Regarding this agreement, José Manuel explained that the purpose of the memorandum is the exploration of mineral resources for agro-industry, constituting a crucial factor in contributing to the knowledge of technicians and the improvement of exploration areas.

He said that the agreement will also allow ESA to have knowledge of the resource locations to be explored, in addition to the financial aspect that IGEO will obtain.

He added that the agreement “does not provide for a limitation of years”, and the partnership covers several sectors, such as agriculture, industry, among others.

For his part, ESA’s director general, Eduardo Neto, considered cooperation with IGEO to be relevant, both from the point of view of knowledge and technologies and facilities.

He recalled that, since 2016, ESA has been carrying out work related to the availability of agrominerals on the national market, with the aim of increasing the production and quality of simple minerals for the development of agriculture in the country.

With two production units, installed in the city of Sumbe, province of Cuanza-Sul, and in Malanje, ESA also develops preliminary projects to increase production and diversify the way the product is made available in bulk and bagged.

According to Eduardo Neto, this project allows for autonomous agriculture, offering opportunities to correct soils and ensure an acceptable level of productivity.

ESA, Engineering Services Angola, is a company governed by Angolan law and capital, with headquarters and shipyard in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), Viana, Luanda province.

Operating since March 2007, ESA provides services in sectors such as civil construction, public works, infrastructure, production of crushed aggregates, concrete and bituminous materials and collection of urban solid waste.

On the other hand, the Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO) has the mission of providing credible geological information to the State, investors and academia, as well as the execution and coordination of geological cartography and the study of mineral resources.
