Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for the Civil Aviation, Maritime and Port sectors, Rui Carreira, advocated, this Friday, in Cabinda, the need to complete studies on national cabotage, to assess the necessary investments in terms of equipment, resources and infrastructures.

When speaking at the closing ceremony of the 5th Round Table of the Angola Ports Association, the person responsible considered that it was only based on these studies that investments to support the national cabotage network will be determined.

According to Rui Carreira, the aforementioned studies must be aligned with the national regulatory framework, staff training, simplification of procedures, identification of strategic maritime routes, depending on the efficiency of connectivity and costs, in order to ensure integrated and efficient logistics.

He also pointed out the need to comply with the National Development Plan 2023-2027, which allows us to say with conviction that national cabotage can contribute to the country’s economic development.

As for the 5th Round Table, the Secretary of State congratulated the Angola Ports Association for choosing the theme that will contribute to boosting and strengthening national cabotage, increasing the volume of cargo to ports and boosting the country’s economy.

According to Rui Carreira, the idea is to create a strong logistics platform capable of competing with other countries at a regional level.
