Africa-Press – Angola. The Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in Bié intends to reinforce measures to prevent and combat illegal immigration, in order to guarantee territorial integrity and peace in the country.

This was stated by the provincial director of SME-Bié, migration commissioner Aristides Luís Teixeira da Costa, who was speaking at the opening of the days commemorating the 48th anniversary of this institution, to be celebrated on the 19th of the current month.

The official pointed out that illegal immigration, motivated by the illegal exploration of diamonds, represents a danger to the country’s political and economic stability, hence the need to create new dynamics in combating it.

He considered the mobility of foreign citizens in this part of the country fluid, due to the artisanal diamond exploration that occurs in most municipalities in Bié.

Among the locations with the highest incidence of diamond exploration are the municipalities of Lúbia and Dando, in the municipality of Nharea, Calussinga and Cassumbi (Andulo), Soma Kuanza and Mutumbo (Chitembo) and in some isolated areas in the municipalities of Cuemba and Camacupa.

On the other hand, Aristides Luís Teixeira da Costa asked officials to respond more quickly to requests for migratory acts, given current demands.

With this, he added, we will not only be satisfying the interests of national and foreign citizens, but also contributing to the Executive’s efforts aimed at attracting tourism and promoting foreign investment.

The journey will take place under the motto “SME-48 Years, Investing in Border Control to Promote Tourism and Private Investment”.

Philanthropic, sporting and cultural activities, visits to historic areas, among others, will be carried out.

Judicial and public magistrates, traditional authorities, defense and internal security forces also participate in the opening ceremony.
