The Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Gróz, held, on Tuesday, a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Organization on Drugs and Crime (ONUDC), headed by the Deputy Director of Operations BO Mathiasen, as part of the ongoing reinforcement of international cooperation.
On the occasion, BO Mathiasen, a 30-year specialist in the fight against crime and drugs, highlighted that the partnership between Angola and the ONUDC is considered strategic, especially due to the excellence in coordination in terms of cooperation with the Attorney General of the Republic of Angola.
The meeting served to take stock of the actions developed so far, evaluate the best solutions and envisage cooperation in other areas of justice and the affirmation of the rule of law, a reality that, increasingly, puts Angola at the forefront in the cerrado combating crime and simultaneously recovering assets.
From training actions to the implementation of new joint projects, efforts were made, on both sides, to highlight that cooperation within the scope of the PRO.REACT project has been positive, important and is to continue, due to the European Union’s manifest interest in continuing to finance it. it.
The PGR was interested in expanding cooperation in other areas of justice, namely in crime prevention, juvenile criminal justice and, in general, digitalization of processes, digital prison control and, in particular, the fight against crime.
Taking part in the meeting, on the ONUDC side, were the head of the Cybercrime and Money Laundering Section, Glen Prichard, the coordinator of the PRO-REACT project, Manuela Carneiro, and the regional representative for Southern Africa, Jane Marie Ongolo.
On the side of the Attorney General’s Office were the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Inocência Maria Gonçalo Pinto, the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Gilberto Mizalaque Vunge, the Acting National Director of Investigation and Criminal Action, Esperança Jorge and the Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, André de Brito Domingos.
