CICA requests state support to stop unprepared pastors

Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary general of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA), the Reverend Deolinda Dorcas Teca, expressed, this Monday (11), in Luanda, her interest in working with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment in the training process of pastors called to serve the pastoral ministry, given the level of unpreparedness revealed by some.

The reverend, who made the statement to the press at the end of the audience with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in Cidade Alta, said that the training of some pastors who serve in many ministries is a cause for concern.

“We are all concerned with this issue of the formation of pastors, especially those who are called to the pastoral ministry”, stressed Deolinda Teca, for whom it is necessary that they go through training beforehand.

“Given that the religious movement is dynamic, it is important that institutions such as the Council of Christian Churches in Angola work very closely with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment in relation, mainly, to issues related to churches” , he stressed. The first woman in charge of CICA, Deolinda Teca, defended, in this case, a cooperation between the Christian institution and others that already have a certain maturity and suitability in the matter.

“That is why we are here to see how we can tack and fine-tune our relationship with the different institutions of the State”, he reaffirmed.

In addition to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment, the reverend said that she is also counting on the support of the Ministry of Education in order to have people trained and “with a certain ethics in doing and thinking”.

The Reverend Deolinda Teca highlighted that the audience with the President of the Republic also served to talk about the diversification of the economy underway in the country, as well as the difficulties faced by some farmers to sell and store products from the countryside to the cities.

For the reverend, solving this problem will empower farming communities, reducing the losses faced on a daily basis. “We also share the issue linked to the lack of water and light, which has contributed to the consequences that many of us already know”, she said.

Still on the path of investing in agriculture, Deolinda Teca acknowledged the Government’s investment in this sector. “It is also necessary to highlight the great effort of the Angolan Government here, which is really doing a lot in terms of agriculture”, she concluded.
