Africa-Press – Angola. The General Labor Inspectorate (IGT) in Cunene Saturday invited employers to uphold the basic principles of decent work, in order to enable equitable and sustainable development to be achieved.

The appeal was launched by the head of the IGT provincial service, Wilson Balundo, at the opening of the seminar on “personality rights in light of the new General Labor Law”.

Balundo argued that guaranteeing standards related to decent work provides a decent life for the working class through prior observance of the principles of labor discipline.

Decent work, he stated, must be at the center of strategies to ensure economic and social progress, guiding efforts to build a means of progress for companies.

For Wison Balundo, decent work is part of the aspirations of human beings in their private lives, such as carrying out productive work that provides a fair income.

Wilson Balundo said that every employee in the public or private sector aspires to security in the workplace, mandatory social promotion, freedom to express their concerns, participate in decisions that influence their lives, equality of opportunity and better prospects for personal and social integration.

Furthermore, he said that safety and health at work figure in what constitutes decent work, as if a job is well paid, but does not take into account forms of pressure and safety standards, it exposes the worker to risk, as well as harming physical and psychological health and well-being.

The lecture in which representatives of the working class from the public and private sector, judicial bodies, insurance companies, trade unionists and others participated, marked the end of the day alluding to the XXI National Labor Inspection Week, which took place from the 6th to the 10th of this month.

Under the theme “Decent work”, the day was limited to inspection activities of a pedagogical nature, covering topics on the impact of the new general labor law on labor relations, personality rights in light of the LGT and the importance of applying the occupational qualifier in labor legal relations.
