Africa-Press – Angola. The general secretary of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, noted, Saturday, that the MPLA in Bié is strong and dynamic, taking into account the level of political organization of its structures, from the base.

The party leader was speaking at the mass political event held in the municipality of Cuito, capital of the province of Bié, following his four-day work schedule in this region located in central Angola.

“This makes this province a stronghold of the MPLA, considered the secretary general, who reiterated the appeal to the militants to provide the necessary support to the president of the party and the Republic, to continue working and find solutions that aim to reverse the current situation facing the country.

In his speech, he reminded those present about the start, last Friday, across the country, of the process of review and renewal of mandate in the Party Action Committees (CAP), which he considered to be the roots that sustain the MPLA.

Paulo Pombolo reiterated that this process must be developed with high responsibility, in order to guarantee a greater strengthening of the basic structures.

“We need zero tolerance for the vices of the past, which weakened the cap and caused a certain distance from some militants and supporters and friends of the MPLA”, he added.

JMPLA Congress

During the event, the general secretary of the MPLA appealed to JMPLA leaders to conduct the congress of this youth organization, scheduled for next November, with dynamism, transparency and objectivity in its various stages of preparation and implementation.

He alerted them about the guidelines for holding the conclave given by President João Lourenço, the Political Bureau and the Central Committee, in order to open the organization to innovative programs, mobilize young people to face the country’s major development challenges and better organize the process of election of its collegial and individual bodies, with a view to strengthening its leadership, as an Angolan youth movement.

According to him, the event should highlight the true vigor of JMPLA, as a mobilizer of young people for noble causes, their patriotic and academic education and serve as a faithful interpreter of the aspirations of youth towards the Angolan State.

Paulo Pombolo heads a delegation made up of members of the Political Bureau and the MPLA Central Committee, who worked, on Friday, in the municipalities of Cuito, Catabola, Cunhinga, Chitembo, Chinguar and Nharea, with the aim of finding out about the socio-political situation and party organization.

In these municipalities, the delegation visited the action committees and social projects to be built within the scope of public programs as well as delivering professional kits to ex-military cooperatives.

Still on Saturday, the third day of work, in addition to the event in Cuito, the delegation also traveled to the municipality of Chinguar, with the same purpose.

Sunday, the last day, a thanksgiving service is reserved at the Peace Cathedral of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA).
