Africa-Press – Angola. The new commander of the Central Military Region (RMC), lieutenant general Simão Carlitos Wala, began his duties this Monday, becoming the 10th person in charge in the history of the military institution in the district.
To mark the beginning of his duties, the new commander was presented to members of the Government of the province of Huambo and then to the troops on parade, in an event led by the Army commander, General João Serafim Kiteculo.
Simão Carlitos Wala replaces Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier “Passix”, who has led the RMC troops since February 2023.
Since 1993, this area, which covers the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cuanza-Sul and Huambo (headquarters), has had as commanders General Armando da Cruz Neto, Macedo Amaral “Violência” (Lieutenant General), Mateus Ângelo Vietname (general), Jaques Raul (general), Matias Lima Coelho “Nzumbi” (general), Manuel dos Santos Hilário (general), Eugénio Figueiredo (lieutenant general) and Dinis Segunda Lucama (lieutenant general).
When speaking at the presentation to members of the Government of the province of Huambo, the Army commander asked for greater support from local authorities and, especially, from the bodies of the Defense and Security system, to the new commander, incidentally a son of the Central Military Region.
“Comrade Simão Carlitos Wala is a general officer that we all know, he is from our history and perfectly knows the Central Military Region, which is why he requests all the necessary support that the Government of the province of Huambo, which until now has given to the Angolan Armed Forces, as , despite the domain, first of all, you should consult those found (… )”, he emphasized.
Accordingly, he appealed to the unity and cohesion of the general officers of the Central Military Region Command, to provide all necessary support to the new commander, mainly in decision-making.
To the new commander, he recommended serenity and dialogue, with a view to listening more and exercising his command in accordance with what is established by law.
In turn, the vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of the province of Huambo, Angelino Elavoco, representing Governor Lotti Nolika, welcomed the new commander, remembering that the local government has always maintained a “very close” with the Central Military Region Command.
“We have no doubt that, as he knows the RMC perfectly, he will have a good performance and a successful mandate, which is why the government of Huambo ensures levels of cooperation and cordiality, making itself available to provide any support it may require. necessary”, he pointed out.
He added that the level of relationship between the two institutions is based on the cooperation protocol in the field of education, which consists of using part of the capacity of the staff, mainly officers with pedagogical aggregation, to help mitigate the shortage of teachers, in addition to of another in the pipeline linked to the health sector.

Born on April 4, 1970, in the municipality of Chongoroi, province of Benguela, before his appointment, inauguration and presentation to the position of commander of the Central Military Region, Lieutenant General Simão Carlitos Wala performed the functions of head of the Directorate of Instruction and Army Education.
He has a PhD in Operative Art from the Inter-Arms Academy of Russia, a master’s degree in National Security and State Defense (Strategic Academy of the Russian Federation), degrees in Military Sciences (MV Fruze Academy of General Troops, of the Russian Armed Forces and in Law, by the Russian Federation), postgraduate degree in Pedagogical Aggregation for University Teachers (Higher Institute of Educational Sciences (ISCED/Luanda).
The other military regions of Angola are North, South, East and Luanda.
