Africa-Press – Angola. The champagne flowed yesterday at the 11 de Novembro Stadium, with Petro de Luanda’s 3-0 defeat of Wiliete de Benguela, concluding their third title and winning their 18th national champion title.
At the end of referee Bernardo Nangolo’s whistle, the party took over the pitch, initially, and then extended to the stadium park, with a musical-cultural atmosphere in honor of the champions.
The players, technical team, managers, family members and Tricolor fans enthusiastically celebrated winning yet another trophy in the biggest national football competition, crowning the dedication, determination and commitment of everyone who made it possible to achieve the dream that everyone wanted.
The Champion’s Cup was not awarded yesterday, but that did not inhibit the tricolor family from coexisting and cherishing the brave boys for yet another title that makes everyone who identifies with the tricolor colors proud.
Petro de Luanda’s eagerness to resolve the title decision once and for all was undone in the initial stage. The three goals happened naturally and consecration became a matter of minutes.
In just seven minutes, Julinho opened the way to the euphorically awaited party. Alexandre Santos’ men were confident and did not show any pressure.
Tiago Azulão, a striker who hasn’t been at his best this season, joined the party and scored twice with a header in the 16th minute, and with a penalty in the 29th minute, punishing the intervention with defender Geovani’s hand on the goal line, and saw the card red.
Wiliete could not find a solution to stop Petro de Luanda’s disposal. Coach Paulino Júnior, unhappy with goalkeeper Ncesani’s interventions, brought Gui on to give the team another confidence, conceding a goal. Benguela’s team only had one opportunity and after that, the tricolor goalkeeper was a mere spectator.
Gilberto, Julinho, Jaredi and Tiago Azulão were arrows aimed at Gui’s goal, who had a lot of work to avoid conceding a goal again.
In the second half, with the objective accomplished, Alexandre Santos changed his game and refreshed the attack. Despite the desire shown, the oil forwards were unable to get past Gui again, on an afternoon when oil fans were celebrating in the stands.
The club’s solitary action in serving a dose of rice pudding to three thousand people will have resulted in extra motivation for the Catetão fans. Even though he didn’t want to, Wiliete de Benguela ended up participating in the tricolor party, with a wasteful defense, in the first half.
A particular moment was the replacement of Hugo, for the first time, this season, giving way to Augusto Mualucano, who made his debut.
Tricolores receive 24 million kwanzas
Petro de Luanda, with the title won yesterday, will receive 24 million kwanzas (more than 28 thousand dollars at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Angola), a prize to be awarded by the organization of the First Division National Football Championship.
The information was recently provided, by the president of the Technical Council of the Angolan Football Federation (CTFAF), José Neves. The director said at the time that a possible increase in the value will depend on the availability of the entity organizing the event.
With this title, coach Alexandre Santos returned the long-awaited third consecutive trophy.
