Africa-Press – Angola. Angola has been participating, since yesterday, in San Antonio, a city in Texas, United States of America (USA), in the Twin Cities Summit, which takes place under the theme “Best practices in municipal management”.

The work of thematic groups preceded, yesterday, the opening ceremony of the event, in which the speakers of the first panel focused on approaches to the need to cultivate integrity in municipal management, ethics and transparency in local governance, a case study in municipality of San Antonio.

The governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, when intervening in the debate, defended the importance of adapting ethical issues to the cultural principles of each region, citing, as an example, the Angolan communities that offer their wealth to those who visit Angola. agricultural and livestock farming as a sign of welcome.

Marcos Nhunga, who is also part of the delegation headed by the Minister of Administration and Territory, called on the organization and speakers to visit Angola, in order to share experiences on good practices in management in local governance.

In statements to the press, the governor expressed anticipation about the ongoing process regarding the signing of the twinning agreement between Malanje and Hampton.

For the vice-governor of Luanda, Manuel Gonçalves, the Summit on Twin Cities represents a space for exchanging experiences, especially for countries and cities that intend to start new experiences on the matter.

During the Summit, Manuel Gonçalves will meet with Jessica Nguyen, responsible for Commercial Development at the Port of Houston, to take stock of the state of implementation of the twinning agreement in force between Luanda and Houston, as well as explore other twinning opportunities, among Angolan and North American cities, namely Cabinda and Lafayette.

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, will be one of the main speakers at the panel under the theme “The African Diaspora in the Americas”, scheduled for tomorrow.

The Summit will analyze innovative and sustainable models of cooperation between cities, focusing on the economy, global challenges and cultural diplomacy, and aims to be a platform for sharing and discussing the historical and cultural legacy of the African diaspora throughout the Americas, from Canada to Chile.

The event aims to bring together elected officials, citizen diplomats and other interested parties from 35 countries across the Western Hemisphere, in the spirit of friendship, mutual respect and opportunity, to strengthen, celebrate and build new partnerships with the United States and closest neighbors, demonstrate the power of partnerships in trade, diplomacy and peace in the Americas, as well as how local partnerships can flourish through mutual topics of interest such as tourism, commerce, gastronomy, education, culture and more.

The Summit runs until Friday and features a dynamic program comprised of keynotes, panel discussions, interactive workshops and networking sessions meticulously designed to inspire and empower participants to effect positive change in their communities.
