Government defends action to safeguard children's rights

Africa-Press – Angola. A more assertive action by society in tasks aimed at protecting children’s rights, for their integral development, was defended today by the vice-governor of Malanje for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Franco Mufinda.

The person responsible left this recommendation during the provincial event celebrating International Children’s Day, which is celebrated today, noting that everyone’s dedication to issues related to children contributes to the identification and timely combating of the evils they face.

In addition, he advocated the transmission of principles and values ​​to minors, so that in the future they can contribute to the development of the country, and the province in particular.

Franco Mufinda recognized the difficulties that children face in different areas and assured that efforts are being made to overcome them.

The head of the Provincial Services of the National Children’s Institute (INAC), Sara Domingos, lamented, on the occasion, the increase in cases of violence against children in the province, having pointed to the registration of 487 cases from January to May,

220 cases of evasion of fatherhood, 120 of child exploitation, 80 of failure to provide food and 64 of sexual abuse were reported.

In turn, the wife of the provincial governor, Maria Nhunga, once again appealed to the need to protect children, so that they can live free and joyfully, without the specter of fear.

The provincial event took place under the motto “United for Child Protection, Make Your Municipality an Example” and 350 children from various social strata took part, benefiting from toys and participating in music and dance competitions.

June 1st, International Children’s Day, was established by the United Nations in 1950, with the aim of promoting children’s rights, as well as implementing actions that can benefit the well-being of children around the world.
