Africa-Press – Angola. The Lobito Corridor has geostrategic importance for the economy, as it is a route for the flow of ore and other goods, said, on Tuesday, in Lubumbashi, the Angolan ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Miguel da Coast.
According to a press release to this Thursday, the diplomat made these statements during a meeting with the commissioner in charge of Transport and Tourism for the province of Upper Katanga, Roberto Kwaisa Kahangu.
On the occasion, Miguel da Costa highlighted the importance of the Lobito Corridor as a lever for promoting economic development and facilitating trade between Angola, DRC and Zambia.
During the meeting, the two interlocutors were also able to analyze issues linked to air transport, regarding the possibility of establishing a Luanda-Lubumbashi air route.
In another meeting held in this region of the DRC, the head of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission conveyed to the provincial Minister of Interior and Security, Héritier Kyungu Kibwe, the concerns of Angolan citizens who complain about the conditions for obtaining permanent residence documentation, as well as the excessive bureaucracy involved in processing a document with the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) of Alto Katanga.
During his trip, Miguel da Costa also met with the governor of the province of Upper Katanga and the president of the Provincial Assembly, Jacques Kyabula Katwe and Michel Kabwe Mwamba, respectively.
