Africa-Press – Angola. Sportsman Andelson Valengifa was elected this Sunday, in the city of Ondjiva, President of the Provincial Football Association (APF) in Cunene.
The new APF leader in Cunene defeated list B opponent Germano Fernandes.
According to the President of the electoral commission, Gaudêncio Cambinda, the elected president received five votes in favor, against three for the competitor, out of a total of eight participating clubs.
The elected candidate assumes the leadership of football in Cunene for a five-year term, with the vice-president, Moisés Elias, and general secretary, Belchior Vasco.
In a statement to the Press, the elected secretary, Belchior Vasco, said that the new squad’s commitment, among others, is to work with the training layers, training of managers and referees.
He added that the ambition is to raise the name of the province in national competitions, with emphasis on the Second Division Championship and then the First Division “Girabola”.
For his part, the director of the Youth and Sports office of Cunene, Nelson Ndelimukuata, considered the process transparent, stressing that the renovation constitutes an added value for the province to return to the mystique of football.
To this end, he warned of the need for the massification of sports practice in communities and then moving towards federation.
Nelson Ndelimukuata said it is the government’s interest to expand sport, which is why the acquisition of sporting equipment, such as balls and various equipment for different sports, is underway.
In addition to sports materials, he indicated that the rehabilitation of the Castilho football field, the Caxila multi-sports court and the youth house is underway, with plans to renovate the multi-purpose pavilion in Naipalala.
Cunene only has one field with synthetic grass, located in the Castilhos neighborhood, in the city of Ondjiva, as well as 11 naked fields at municipal level.
