Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, began tonight an official visit to Angola, as part of the strengthening of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation.
At the 4 de Fevereiro Airport, the Congolese statesman received a welcome greeting from the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
On Thursday, Nguesso will be received at the Presidential Palace, at “Cidade Alta”, by the Angolan President, João Lourenço.
The authorities of both countries consider the historical relations between Angola and the Republic of Congo to be good, forged during the period of the struggle for national independence.
Bilateral cooperation focuses on various domains, with a focus on diplomacy, social reintegration, economics and also cultural aspects.
In the multilateral field, the two countries have expressed their willingness to continue to contribute to the implementation of the reform of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), so that together they can make the ideal of regional economic integration more effective, for the well-being and prosperity of the Community population.
Both are members of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region.
