Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA’s provincial secretary, Mardanês Calunga, reiterated, Saturday, the call for citizens to participate more actively in public life, contributing to the development of the province and the country in general.

According to the politician, in addition to contributing to the resolution of problems through local governance, citizens’ participation in public life constitutes an exercise in citizenship and a patriotic duty.

Speaking during the 6th ordinary meeting of the party’s Provincial Committee, the politician stressed that people’s involvement in acts of governance represents the country’s democracy and is done with plurality, allowing citizens to have the possibility of making choices.

In the meantime, the UNITA secretary acknowledged the political maturity that Angolans have been gaining in recent times, which is allowing them to participate in decision-making in a timely manner, avoiding unpleasantness in all aspects of the country’s life.

On the other hand, he called for Angolans to reflect deeply on the reasons why the people fought against Portuguese colonialism to achieve the country’s independence.

The meeting was attended by members of UNITA and its youth and women’s organizations (JURA and LIMA), based at the headquarters and in the municipalities of the province.
