Africa-Press – Angola. Namibe province will benefit from a solar energy exploration project, with the capacity to produce 50 megawatts, which, according to the politician, the installation process will begin this month.
Upon completion of the first phase, the city of Moçâmedes will have an electrical supply of 25 megawatts. “Moçâmedes will stop depending entirely on thermal energy, which, in addition to being very expensive, is also very harmful to the environment,” he guaranteed.
The member of the MPLA Political Bureau, Manuel Nunes Júnior, informed that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has already approved the construction of 43 small dams and dams, which will help to mitigate the effects of the drought in Namibe province, both for people as well as cattle. He stressed that the “Kwenda” program in Namibe province has contributed to the protection of the most vulnerable populations, especially those affected by drought. In this way, around 6,000 families, out of more than 7,000 registered, benefit from the resources of this important program to fight poverty.
“Yesterday, we laid the first stone for the construction of the project to capture and expand the water supply system in the city of Moçâmedes, and, according to the information provided to us, it may be completed in the next 12 months”, recalled the politician, for whom the water harvesting system represents the importance of the set of works that are being carried out, as well as its impact on the lives of populations throughout the country.
