Africa-Press – Angola. José Peseiro is the new Nigeria coach. The Portuguese coach was made official, on Sunday, by the Federation of that country, as the new owner of the position, which had been vacant since the resignation, of his own volition, of Augustine Eguavoen.
“The Football Federation of Nigeria announces the appointment of Mr. José Santos Peseiro as the new coach of the Super Águias with immediate effect”, reads in a published note, referring that the connection is “subject to the signing of agreed terms”.
José Peseiro is expected to make his debut for the Nigerian bank during the individuals, in the United States of America, against Mexico (28 May) and Ecuador (2 June).
The new Super Eagles coaching staff, led by Peseiro, is made up of George Finidi, a former Nigerian international forward, who will be Peseiro’s assistant coach, along with Salisu Yusuf and Usman Abdallah. Ike Shorounmu, another former Nigerian international, will be Nigeria’s goalkeeper coach.
Peseiro, 62, returns to action after guiding Venezuela between February 2020 and August 2021.
