On Tuesday afternoon (17), the President of the Republic received the ambassador of the United States of America, Tulinabo Mushingi, who was accompanied, in the audience, by the commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), Stephen Townsend, who is visiting the country for the first time.
At the end of the meeting, Stephen Townsend said that the occasion made it possible to discuss with the President of the Republic issues related to cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of maritime security. Referring to Angola’s commitment to pacifying the Great Lakes Region, the AFRICOM commander considered the “excellent effort.” This is one of the very important areas in which the Angolan President is doing a good job”, he concluded.
