On Sunday, in Cairo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, highlighted Angola’s readiness to exchange experiences and deepen its historic relations of friendship, solidarity and trade with the Arab Republic of Egypt. The head of Angolan diplomacy will participate, from Monday until the 30th of this month, in Cairo, in official talks at the highest level between the Angolan and Egyptian delegations.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Téte António made these considerations after landing in Cairo.
According to Minister Téte António, Angola considers it essential to strengthen, expand and consolidate bilateral cooperation with Egypt, especially in areas such as political-diplomatic, Defense, Security, Internal Order, Terrorism, Sports, Economy, Health, Education, Technical and Professional Training, in addition to the Oil and Gas, Finance, Agriculture and Fisheries sectors.According to the head of Angolan diplomacy, it is also in our country’s interest to hold, on a date to be agreed through diplomatic channels, the first Meeting of the Bilateral Commission between the two countries, to discuss issues of mutual interest and to proceed with the signing of more legal instruments to further cement the relationship.
The press release also highlights that Teté António stated that the two countries have been working hard to boost bilateral relations, with a focus on strengthening cooperation in the most diverse areas of political, economic and commercial life.
The document states that, as future prospects, Angola and Egypt are also committed to concluding and signing legal instruments in areas such as Civil Aviation, Telecommunications and Information Technologies, in addition to promoting bilateral consultations and increasing the exchange of visits between official delegations.
According to official data, the Bilateral Commission between Angola and Egypt was formalized through Presidential Decree No. 157/22, published on June 16, 2022, an agreement that aims to establish a forum for coordination, monitoring and regular evaluation of economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between the two countries, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations for mutual benefit.Since the creation of the Bilateral Commission, Angola and Egypt have signed several agreements in strategic areas such as Security and Public Order, Groundwater and in the field of Defense.
