Africa-Press – Angola. April’s monthly inflation slowed to 1.12 percent, the lowest rate of the year, representing 0.44 percentage points less than in March and accentuating the downward trend started in January, according to figures released by the National Institute of of Statistics (INE).

Data from the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN), consulted yesterday, attribute the deceleration of monthly inflation in April to the evolution of the “Clothing and footwear” class, where prices increased by 1.72 percent.

The report also highlights the increases seen in the classes of “Health” (1.59 percent), “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (1.53) and “Miscellaneous goods and services” (1.49 percent).

According to the document, the provinces that registered the least variation in prices were Moxico, with 0.82 percent, Uíge (0.90), Bié (0.95) and Luanda (0.97), while the provinces with the highest variation in prices to Huíla, with 1.58 percent, Cunene and Cabinda (1.55 each) and Zaire (1.51).

The document states that the year-on-year change in inflation stood at 25.79 percent in April, registering a growth of 0.97 percentage points in relation to that observed in April 2021), although, comparing the current year-on-year change with that registered in March, there is a deceleration of 1.21 percentage points.

In Luanda, inflation in April registered a monthly deceleration of 0.55 percentage points compared to March, while, in year-on-year terms, the deceleration was 1.35 percentage points.
