Africa-Press – Angola. The Centro Materno Infantil de Cacuaco, paralyzed for eight years due to its severe state of degradation, was reopened yesterday, completely modernized. The governor of Luanda, Ana Paula de Carvalho, attended the presentation of the infrastructure.
The center has preventive services, pediatrics, general medicine, maternity, clinical and auxiliary support, laboratory, ultrasound, radiology and a morgue. In a first phase, it will work with 60 technicians and five doctors. The center will serve 400 patients daily.
The governor also inaugurated, in the village of Cacuaco, Ponte das Madres”, in Nova Urbanização, and a primary school, in the district of Mulundu, commune of Funda, with seven classrooms, expected to welcome over 1,240 students next year. . It is planned to build five more classrooms in the same school, when it is fully completed.
Still in the commune of Funda, in the locality of Kilunda, the governor inaugurated the School Complex 4031, with 12 classrooms and a sports field.
Ana Paula de Carvalho expressed her satisfaction with the infrastructure built under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
“The Maternal and Child Center will relieve the Municipal Hospital of Cacuaco, since the Executive’s intention is that the population has a center in each locality, so that there is good medical care for citizens. We also have two schools, which can serve for the next school year”, said the governor,
stating that the Ponte das Madres, although small, is of great importance in connecting the Nova Urbanização neighborhood to others close to the town of Cacuaco.
The director of Luanda’s Provincial Education Office, Narciso Benedito, said that, with the opening of the schools, another 2,969 children will be included in the education system.
