President of the Republic congratulates José Ramos-Horta

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Singapore, Daniel Rosa, attended, Thursday (19), the investiture ceremony of the President-elect of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta, to whom he delivered a congratulatory message from the Head of State, John Lawrence.

Daniel Rosa, who attended the investiture on behalf of the Head of State, is also a non-resident ambassador to Timor-Leste, was received in audience by President José Ramos-Horta, having provided information on the set of political and socio-economic reforms that are being be implemented by the Executive.

The President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta, praised the Head of State, João Lourenço, and encouraged him to continue on this path, with a view to the development of the country, especially with regard to the creation of conditions for the well-being of of the populations, according to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his message to the new Timorese leader, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, reiterated our best wishes for personal well-being and good health, as well as “our wish that, during your presidency, Angola and Timor-Leste can intensify cooperation at the bilateral level, as well as within the framework of the CPLP, in favor of the development and social progress of our populations.” Ambassador Daniel Rosa also delivered a message from the Head of State to the outgoing President, Francisco Guterres Lú-Olo. He was also received in audience by the President of the National Assembly, Aniceto Longuinhos Guterres Lopes, to whom he delivered a message from the President of the Angolan Parliament, Fernando Dias dos Santos.

As part of his audience program in Timor-Leste, Daniel Rosa met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno, among other meetings with high political and diplomatic authorities. Ambassador Daniel Rosa also held a meeting with the Angolan community in Timor-Leste.

Angola and Timor-Leste reiterate the need to work on the implementation of legal instruments of cooperation already signed between the two Governments, through political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Angola and of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, followed by the creation of sectoral Bilateral Joint Commissions to identify new areas of cooperation in the various domains.
