Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda ended the dispute of the 38th edition of the Cup Winners’ Cup in senior women’s handball undefeated, by defeating, yesterday, the FAP of Cameroon, by 33-22, in a match referring to the fifth and last round, of the competition held in Niamey, Niger.
Under the title of champions, a feat achieved on Wednesday, the oil companies only met the calendar against the Cameroonians. Unopposed at the time, the title holders were already winning, 17-09, at the end of the first half.
In the complementary stage, the tricolors maintained the same posture, with fierce defense and efficiency in the attack. The Cameroonians tried to rekindle hope, but nothing that jeopardized the result.
With the participation of four teams, the Cup Winners’ Cup was played in the all-against-all system over two rounds. In the first, Petro defeated DGSP of Congo, 30-16, FAP of Cameroon 35-12 and 39-16 to Bandama of Côte d’Ivoire.
In the second round, they beat Bandama, 38-16 and 38-22 against DGSP. Still in Niamey, the Eixo Viário team won the Babakar Fall Supercup, due to a lack of appearance by the Cameroon TKC. The tricolors return to Luanda, on Sunday, at 12:00. Before, they make technical stopovers in Cotonou, Benin, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
