Roberto Matondo and Joelson Paulino are the main new additions to the senior men’s national tennis team, for the Davis Cup Africa IV, to be held from 11 to 14 June, on the courts of the Kikuxi Villas Club Academy, in Luanda, as revealed in a statement released by the Angolan Tennis Federation.
The two tennis players were absent from the last edition of the Davis Cup, due to technical reasons, and their inclusion in the team, under the orders of coach José Almeida, is due to their performances during the internal competitions. Tennis players Fernando André, Joelson Paulino and Emerson Pedro have been completing a pre-competition training camp at the PTT Academy in Barcelona, Spain, since last week. In Spain, the athletes are working on their service responses and defenses with European tennis players in order to be prepared for the event. Daniel Domingos, one of the best players in the national team, starts competing today in the ITF M15 in the city of Monastir, Tunisia; while Roberto Matondo improves his technical and tactical work at the Kikuxi Villas Club Academy.
