Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s ambassador to South Africa, Rui Orlando Xavier, encouraged Japanese entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities in Angola.

The official, who was speaking this Tuesday in Johannesburg, during a round-table on investments promoted by the embassies of Angola and Japan, highlighted, among other projects, the Lobito Corridor.

“The Lobito Corridor will boost the transport of goods, connecting the Atlantic Ocean to Angola and exploring markets such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia, all the way to the Indian Ocean through Tanzania, in addition to the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal”, he stressed.

In turn, the executive director of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), Jerónimo Pongolola, highlighted Angola’s resource potential in a wide range of areas and the attractive legislation that facilitates foreign investment, as well as the sectors such as mining, logging, textile industry, agriculture, food industry and tourism as priorities for investment.

The event was attended by representatives of around 20 companies from different sectors.

As part of the meeting, Rui Orlando Xavier participated in a business lunch with representatives of the Volkswagen Africa Group where he learned about the strategic functioning of the German automobile company, which expressed its desire to open an assembly plant in Angola.
