Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda’s senior women’s team beat Cameroon’s TCK 29-17 on Tuesday to qualify for the semi-finals of the 41st edition of the Africa Handball Cup Winners’ Cup being held in Cairo, Egypt.

Petro led 15-9 at half-time, dominating the match without too much difficulty.

Petro’s Central midfielder Chelcia Gabriel was named MVP, scoring seven goals in the match.

In addition to Petro de Luanda, ASF Sahel from Tunisia, which eliminated Abidjan HBC from Côte d’Ivoire 26-22, are also through to the semi-finals.

To reach the quarter-finals, Petro de Luanda finished unbeaten at the top of Group A, with eight points, the result of four wins, with a goal difference of 112 goals scored and 50 conceded.

In their opening game, they beat AS Sahel of Tunisia 32-15, National Bank of Egypt 37-12, FAP of Cameroon 42-23 and AS Otoho of Congo Brazzaville 32-20.

Angola’s other representative, 1.o de Agosto, second in Group B with four points, face AS Otoho of Congo in the quarter-finals.

1o de Agosto beat Abidjan HBC 34-19 and TKC of Cameroon 35-16 and lost 22-25 to Al Ahly of Egypt at the end of the group stage, scoring 91 goals and conceding 60.

1.o de Agosto are the holders of the trophy.
