The economic reforms implemented by the Executive coincide with the recommendations of the 54th Conference of Ministers of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), held on the 14th of this month, in Dakar (Senegal), according to the Secretary of State for Planning. .

Milton Reis, who was speaking at the weekly press briefing on Thursday, pointed out, as part of this alignment, the recommendation that urges African countries to continue to develop their economic potential in terms of the production of goods and services in which they have absolute and comparative advantages, as well as to increase trade, with a view to minimizing economic dependence on the rest of the world.

The Secretary of State highlighted the efforts in this direction undertaken by the Angolan Government, which is implementing the Production Support Program, Export Diversification and Import Substitution (Prodesi), which has proved to be important for the development of the productive potential of the parents.

The most recent events in international political and economic life are also among the recommendations of the meeting, which encouraged states to “reflect on the impact that the crisis triggered by the war between Ukraine and Russia could have on the sustainable development of African economies” .

“The conflict represents an opportunity for certain African countries to benefit, in the medium term, from the efforts of European countries to diversify their energy sources, and countries with greater proven gas reserves will be able to define a strategy to increase their exports and take advantage of its comparative advantages”, according to one of the recommendations adopted by the meeting.
