Africa-Press – Angola. The National Police through joint actions with the Criminal Criminal Investigation Service and other bodies of the Ministry of the Interior, are still focused on the fight against mining and illicit diamond trafficking in the province of Lunda-Norte, one of the causes of illegal immigration into that territory.
The statement was made this Saturday by the head of the Press Office of the provincial command of the National Police, Domingos Muanafumo, who highlighted that the actions to combat this phenomenon are centered on the municipalities of Cambulo, Lucapa, Cuango, Chitato, Capenda Camulemba and Canzar.
He reported that only in this week, 146 diamond stones weighing different kilograms were seized in the municipalities of Lucapa and Canzar. It was handed over to the Angolan Public Diamond Company “ENDIAMA E.P”, which will sell them and allocate the money to the State coffers.
The official stressed that the actions also include combating fuel smuggling, illegal immigration, human and organ trafficking, public property vandalism, among other phenomena that put economic, social and political stability at risk.
Domingos Muanafumo stated that this week, 3,495 liters of oil-by derivatives (diesel and petrol) were also seized, which were destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where they would be sold.
As for illegal immigration, 752 DRC citizens were repatriated for illegal entry and presence in the national territory, adding that they were settled in mining areas with the purpose of practicing illicit diamond mining.
The official called on the population to continue to collaborate with the authorities, reporting all types of crime, to facilitate the intervention of the authorities.
