Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Minister of Tourism Márcio Daniel on Monday pointed out the tourism and agriculture sectors as ‘anchors’ of the country economic diversification to reduce oil dependence.
The Minister, who was speaking in Lisbon at the closing of the Doing Business Angola-Lisbon conference, stressed that Angola must create conditions so that there are no differences in the ownership of the best business ideas, resilient entrepreneurs and holders of large fortunes.
‘The country of the next 50 years cannot continue to be dependent on oil and diamonds,’ he stressed.
The minister reaffirmed the Angolan Government’s commitment to promoting tourism, with the implementation of measures such as visa exemption for about 100 countries.
‘Portugal receives in one day, in foreign tourists, what Angola receives in a year’, he stressed.
On the other hand, he called on local companies to invest in the tourism sector in Angola, stressing that the sector is open to welcome, support and facilitate investment proposals.
‘Invest in hotels, eco-resorts, parks, tourist services, professional training and technology applied to tourism. Be pioneers in the transformation of a country with immense natural and human potential’, he stressed.
The third edition of Doing Business Angola 2025 gathered public decision-makers, entrepreneurs and investors to discuss structuring topics such as the business environment, privatizations, financing of the economy, financial market, oil and gas, tourism and the challenges of Portuguese-speaking countries in a changing world.
The event was organized by Jornal Económico and Forbes África Lusófona and has the institutional support of the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) and the Portugal/Angola Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIPA).
