Africa-Press – Angola. President João Lourenço met on Tuesday with representatives of religious denominations and a traditional authority to discuss social and economic issues.
The Head of State met at the Presidential Palace with the secretary-general of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola, Reverend Vladimir Agostinho, the prophetess Susete João, and King Muanauta, from the Buegas region in the province of Uíge.
João Lourenço discussed the challenges faced by communities, the need to strengthen social actions, inter-institutional dialogue, and the formulation of public policies based on the reality experienced in localities.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, Reverend Vladimir Agostinho said that he took the opportunity to present to the president the social monitoring and participatory poverty assessment report on which his religious congregation has been working.
He said that the report was based on work carried out in the provinces of Huíla, Lunda Norte, and Lunda Sul, where in some municipalities there were cases of children without birth certificates, health problems, education problems, and basic sanitation problems.
Prophetess Suzete João, also a member of the Council of the Republic, explained that she exchanged views with the Head of State on the problems faced by young people, with emphasis on the situation related to employment and housing.
King Muanauta said that he informed President João Lourenço of some issues related to the difficulties faced by the people of that region, so that the Executive could find appropriate solutions.
He pointed out that one of the issues that most afflicts that community is related to the rehabilitation of roads, the lack of more schools, health centers, access to drinking water, and public lighting.
