Africa-Press – Angola. Angola reiterated, on Thursday, at the UN headquarters in New York, its commitment to the sustainable industrialization of Africa and the centrality of the Fourth Decade for the Industrial Development of Africa (IDDA IV).
According to a press release, this was expressed by the permanent representative of Angola to the United Nations, Francisco José da Cruz, during a meeting he held with the Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Fatou Haidara.
On the occasion, the diplomat considered IDDA IV as a strategic instrument for structurally transforming the continent’s economies.During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening cooperation between Angola and (UNIDO) within the framework of the Fourth Decade for the Industrial Development of Africa (IDDA IV).
The two entities assessed opportunities for strategic partnership for Angola, addressing priority multilateral initiatives, including high-level participation in relevant international events.
The Angolan diplomat took the opportunity to invite the Deputy Director-General of UNIDO to participate in the International Conference on Infrastructure, to be held from 13 to 14 October this year in Luanda, under the auspices of the African Union.The conference will provide a high-level platform to promote regional industrialization, supported by modern and resilient infrastructure, in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
In turn, Fatou Haidara invited Angola to participate at the highest possible level in a high-level side event on IDDA IV, scheduled for 24 September this year in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The event aims to mobilize political and financial support around IDDA IV priorities, with a focus on innovation, infrastructure development and the promotion of public-private partnerships.On another occasion, Francisco José da Cruz held a meeting with the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser for Africa, Cristina Duarte.
The two interlocutors discussed issues on the United Nations agenda, priority issues on the African Union agenda and collaboration mechanisms aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Angolan diplomat praised the leadership of the Office of the Special Adviser for Africa in organizing the African Dialogues Series during the African Week at the United Nations, held from 23 to 27 May 2025.
