Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall, arrives in the country today, as part of a 72-hour State visit, at the invitation of the Head of State, João Lourenço, encouraged by political and diplomatic ties and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, dominated by by various legal instruments and agreements in areas of mutual interest.
The agenda of President Macky Sall, according to the itinerary of the State visit, will have a meeting with the Head of State, João Lourenço, in addition to the laying of a wreath in the sarcophagus of the Founder of the Angolan Nation, Dr. António Agostinho Neto, target of an extensive program of tributes for its centenary. Macky will also address the National Assembly in an extraordinary session.
The Republics of Angola and Senegal have developed important mechanisms in the field of strengthening cooperation, allowing the two States to bring together political, economic and diplomatic lines. In this perspective, the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, paid an official visit to Dakar, capital of Senegal, on the 4th and 5th of August 2021, as a bearer of a message from the Head of State, João Lourenço, to the his Senegalese counterpart, Macky Sall.
On the occasion, the General Agreement on Technical, Scientific and Economic Cooperation, Agreement on the Creation of the Bilateral Commission, Momorando on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad was signed. . The two countries also signed the Agreement on Suppression of Visas in Diplomatic, Official and Service Passports.
These legal instruments, according to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which Jornal de Angola had access, reflect the will of the two countries to strengthen existing ties of friendship, fraternity and cooperation, as well as establishing the list of the main means of cooperation.
During the inauguration of the Cape Verdean President, José Maria Neves, a bilateral meeting took place between the Head of State, João Lourenço, and his Senegalese counterpart, Macky Sall, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
