Angola Strengthens Diplomatic Ties with South Korea, SADR and France

Africa-Press – Angola. MPLA Vice President Mara Quiosa granted audiences this Tuesday in Luanda with diplomatic representatives from South Korea, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), and France, aiming to strengthen ties of friendship, cooperation, and solidarity with these countries.

In statements to the press at the end of the separate meeting, South Korean diplomat Kwang-Jin Choi highlighted the symbolic importance of 2025 for both countries, the year in which Angola celebrates 50 years of independence and the 80th anniversary of his country’s liberation.

According to Kwang-Jin Choi, this year also marks 33 years of diplomatic relations between the two states.

He also highlighted the progress made in bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of economy, industry, trade, public security, education, and health.In the health sector, he highlighted the delivery of cholera kits by the Korean government as a concrete example of the partnership.

The ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Hamdi El Jalil Aali, reaffirmed the historical ties between Angola and its people, recalling the support provided during the period of the struggle for independence.

Hamdi El Jalil considered the visit a gesture of reaffirmation of the friendship between the two parties and peoples, as well as an opportunity to update Angola on the current situation in that territory and discuss the future of relations in the African and international context.

For her part, the French ambassador, Sophie Aubert, said it was a courtesy visit that served to present ongoing cooperation initiatives, particularly in the sectors of education, human capital, health, and food security.

The diplomat highlighted projects such as the French high school in Luanda, the Eiffel school network, and scholarship programs for Angolan students, initiatives that aim to contribute to the country’s sustainable development.

These meetings reflect Angola’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy and the consolidation of strategic partnerships for national progress.
