Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and South Africa recently signed a memorandum of understanding in Pretoria to strengthen cooperation in the space sector.
The agreement marks a strategic step in consolidating the partnership between Angola and South Africa in the field of science, technology, and space applications, with a focus on knowledge sharing, technology transfer, staff training, and joint development of space projects.
The memorandum was signed by the director general of the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), Zolana João, and the CEO of SANSA, Humbulani Mudau, at a ceremony witnessed by the national director of Telecommunications and Information Technology, Matias Borges, and the Minister Counselor of the Angolan Embassy in South Africa, Nelson Sousa.
On the South African side, Itumeleng Mokoloi, head of the Department of Space Science and Technology at the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, was present.
The memo covers the areas of joint exploration of telecommunications satellites, with emphasis on ANGOSAT-2, and the exchange of experience on data and images from earth observation satellites.
It also includes the areas of development of applied space solutions, promotion of training and technical capacity building programs for human resources, and encouragement of industrial initiatives and startups linked to the space sector.
