Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, considered, yesterday, in Luanda, the 72-hour State visit of the Senegalese counterpart, Macky Sall, to Angola, a turning point in the cooperation and exchange relations between the two nations.

The Head of State, who was speaking during the official talks between the two delegations, said that “the long gap” in the relations between the two countries was not able to prevent or condition the beginning of drawing up, in January of this year, the legal-diplomatic framework, on which he said all cooperation and exchanges were based, with the signing of the General Agreement on Technical, Scientific and Economic Cooperation.

President João Lourenço stressed that this step represented an important window so that, at the same time, other instruments could be signed, such as the Agreement on Suppression of Visas in diplomatic, official and service passports, as well as the creation of the Bilateral Joint Commission. “I believe that our meeting represents a great opportunity for us to discuss, frankly, the best way to promote, in a practical sense, all the initiatives that aim to make our cooperation increasingly broad and diversified”, said the Angolan statesman, for whom this is an opportunity not to be missed.

João Lourenço also referred that Macky Sall’s visit to the country forces us to remember important moments in the common history between the two countries that “valiant” African sons, inspired and led by António Agostinho Neto and Léopold Sédar Senghor, undertook in favor of the conquest of the freedom of the peoples of the two States, as well as for their edification.

The President highlighted that this legal framework lived between the two States should be seen as a starting point for a series of other initiatives that can be undertaken in “very important” sectors of the national life of the two countries.

In this regard, the Head of State highlighted that the areas of Agriculture, Transport, Oil and Gas, Culture, Hotels and Tourism, Finance, Banking and Business, Industry and Commerce, Health and others will be levers for the re-launch and dynamization of economic cooperation. and business exchange between Angola and Senegal, especially in obtaining mutually beneficial benefits.

The President of the Republic said that it is in Angola’s interest to work, in conjunction with Senegal, in order to find the best ways to develop solid and dynamic cooperation, based on the great potential and creative capacity of the two. people.

On the occasion, he assured that the Angolan market is open to the entry of Senegalese investors, who want to take advantage of the existing opportunities in the national market, as well as the great advantages provided by the Angolan legal system in terms of investment.

Three Cooperation Agreements
Yesterday, the two countries signed three cooperation agreements, namely in the fields of Oil and Gas, Tourism and Commerce. The President of the Republic referred that this step will provide a more attractive and safe business environment between Angola and Senegal, likely to facilitate the mobilization of companies in both directions, in addition to bringing closer the friendly relations between the two peoples.

Given the troubled moment the world is experiencing at the moment, caused, above all, by the Covid-19 pandemic and the almost constant outbreak of conflicts in various areas of the planet, João Lourenço defended unity of action between African countries, to protect themselves from the problems that are observed in the main world economies.

“We can, in this complex global context, act in a coordinated way, with well-defined policies, in order to boost the agricultural potential available on our continent, in order to help fill the food production deficit that is being recorded in the world” , highlighted President João Lourenço.

PR Invited To Visit Senegal
On the occasion, the President of the Republic was invited by his Senegalese counterpart to also visit Senegal, an invitation agreed by the Angolan statesman, on a date to be agreed.

Macky Sall Welcomes New Dynamics In Relationships
The Senegalese statesman Macky Sall, who is also, at the moment, acting president of the African Union, welcomed the new dynamics registered in relations between Angola and his country and promised to open, as Angola has already done, an embassy, in Luanda, to allow greater fluidity in the relationship between the two States. Macky Sall, who ends his state visit to Angola today, said that his country is interested in cooperating with Angola, especially in the fields of extractive industries, hydrocarbon exploration and health.
