Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Ombudswoman, Florbela Rocha Araújo, participated on Tuesday (05), in the 2nd round of electronic voting for the election of the new 1st and 2nd Deputy-Chair of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).

The process is electronic and involves full voting members, including the Angolan Ombuds, who previously served as IOI Director for the African region.

Running in this phase of voting are Jack Chan Jick-chi, Ombudsman of Hong Kong (Australasia and the Pacific), Kholeka Gcaleka, Deputy Public Protector of South Africa (Africa), Ayesha Hamid, Provincial Ombudsman of Punjab, Pakistan (Asia), and Nadine Mailloux, Ombudsman of Montreal, Canada (North America).

Voting will remain open until August 19th and may be extended for another 14 days if the abstention rate exceeds 25%.

After the voting period closes, the IOI General Secretariat will release the final results.

The participation of the Angolan Ombudsman in this international process reflects the country’s commitment to the principles of good governance, social justice, and international cooperation in protecting the rights, freedoms, and guarantees of citizens.
