Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s migration data is safeguarded, and any institutional decision related to the management of technological systems adheres to due technical and strategic rigor, the Foreign Migration Service (SME) reported Wednesday in Luanda.
In a press release, the agency reveals that the process of evaluating and potentially renewing SME contracts with service providers is based on technical, legal, and administrative criteria that comply with current legislation.
It indicates that contractual relationships are governed by legality, transparency, and the best interests of the State. The agency denies the existence of any “arm wrestling” between the Ministry of the
Interior and any company that provides services to the SME.
It stated that the SME had become aware of a report entitled “Minister in tug-of-war with British company,” which alleges the existence of an alleged conflict between Minister Manuel Homem and the company Brithol Michcoma International Limited, regarding the management of the agency’s computer system.
Therefore, it considers the information unfounded, speculative, and without any basis in the current institutional reality.
“Any insinuation about alleged personal interests of the Minister of the Interior in contractual processes is false and slanderous, and therefore the SME repudiates this type of speculation, which only aims
to tarnish the name of public institutions and their leaders,” the document reads.
The SME reiterates its commitment to truth and legality and reserves the right to take legal action against the dissemination of false or defamatory information that jeopardizes the normal functioning of the institutions.
