Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Embassy in Argentina hosted the International Conference “Angola 50 Years” at the University of Morón in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, as part of the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of National Independence.
The meeting brought together diplomats, academics, researchers, students, and experts from Angola, Brazil, and Argentina, in a space for reflection on the country’s historical journey, current challenges, and future prospects.
At the opening ceremony, Angola’s Ambassador to Argentina, Azevedo Xavier Francisco, presented a historical retrospective of the 50 years of independence, highlighting the main political, social, and economic milestones.
The diplomat emphasized the importance of peace as an essential condition for development, recalling that the end of the armed conflict enabled advances in areas such as infrastructure, education, and health. “War creates delays,” he stated, defending dialogue and international cooperation as paths to the prosperity of peoples.
“Angola 50 years, new directions” for its turn, the academic José Octávio Serra Van-Dunem addressed the theme “Angola 50 years, new directions”, arguing that the future of the country involves strengthening citizenship, valuing human capital and investment in education and employment.
Academic and scientific cooperation
Professor Maria Cecilia Lorea Leite, from the Federal University of Pelotas (Brazil), presented the theme “Academic and Scientific Cooperation between Universities: Case Study Brazil/Angola”.
In his intervention, he stressed the progress achieved in the field of teacher education, scientific exchange and joint research projects, stressing that academic cooperation is strategic for the formation of qualified and indispensable paintings for sustainable growth.
International economic relations.
The economic panel was attended by Professor Domingos Mazza, dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Morón, and the Montserrat Serrano Bonila Business Management Specialist.
Both analyzed international economic relations between Africa, Europe and America, highlighting emerging opportunities for Angola, a country rich in natural resources and in the process of economic diversification. It was also highlighted the need for the country to reinforce its role as a platform for connecting markets, taking advantage of its historical and geographical links to promote strategic trade, investments and partnerships.
The meeting ended by ambassador Azevedo Xavier Francisco, who thanked the participation of the speakers and the public present and reiterated the commitment to promote similar initiatives that reinforce cooperation within the international academic community. The conference was attended by prestigious interveners from Angola, Brazil and Argentina, reinforcing the international and multidisciplinary character of the event.
