Africa-Press – Angola. The Council of Christian Churches of Angola (CICA) has congratulated the Angolan National Basketball Team on winning the country’s 12th continental title, i.e the Africa Cup of Nations in Basketball (Afrobasket2025), as a result of the commitment and unity of Angolans.
Angola was crowned African basketball champion last Sunday, beating Mali 70-43 in a game played at the Kilamba pavilion in the country’s capital.
In a congratulatory note that ANGOP had access, which was signed by CICA’s general secretary, Vladimir Agostinho, the religious institution highlights the performance of the athletes, as well as the technical team, during this year’s edition of Afrobasket.
According to the statement, the victory is proof of commitment and effort, as well as the passion of Angolan athletes for the sport, making it a source of national pride.
“Each of you gave your best, and the result is a source of pride for the country and for Angolan basketball”, reads the note.
For the CICA, the 12th continental title comes as Angola celebrates 50 years of independence, constituting an important milestone in the history of national sports.
However, the Council of Christian Churches of Angola hopes that this achievement will serve as an example for future generations of athletes and a source of inspiration for the continued growth and strengthening of Angolan basketball on the international stage.
