Africa-Press – Angola. The First Lady of Angola, Ana Dias Lourenço, highlighted on Friday in central Huambo province, the role of education in building a fairer, more equitable, and prosperous society.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Eiffel High School in the Cambiote neighborhood on the outskirts of Huambo, Ana Lourenço said that empowerment, innovation, and progress cannot be discussed without prioritizing education.

She reaffirmed her personal and institutional commitment to quality education for all.

The First Lady pointed out that the Eiffel school network has become a national model of educational excellence through a public-private partnership between the Ministry of Education, TotalEnergies, the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), the French Embassy in Angola, and the French Secular Mission.

Ana Lourenço added that the Eiffel network, which is present in the provinces of Bengo, Cuanza Norte, Cunene, and Malanje, as well as Moxico and Huambo, is a symbol of hope, social transformation, and gender equality. The network reserves nearly 50 percent of its places for girls, who often face structural and social barriers.

The First Lady called on students to care for the infrastructure and make it a space for knowledge, hope, and citizenship. She also encouraged them to take advantage of every opportunity to cultivate knowledge and become agents of community transformation.

Praising the partnership between the government, TotalEnergies, ANPG, and other Block 32 partners, Ana Lourenço highlighted the strategic vision that enabled the school network’s expansion.

The First Lady called for the construction of at least one Eiffel high school and one Campus Industries in each of Angola’s 21 provinces. She emphasized that the inauguration of the Eiffel high school in Huambo represents a renewed commitment to youth, quality education, and the sustainable development of communities, not just the opening of a new facility.

The new school can accommodate 150 students in its six classrooms and features three laboratories, a computer room, a media library, a regular library, a sports court, and a soccer field.
