Africa-Press – Angola. The minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, stressed on Monday (08), in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that Angola has been implementing robust environmental policies and concrete actions to combat climate change.
During his speech, at the II African Climate Summit, the minister highlighted the Angola Climate Change Strategy 2022-2035 and the 3rd Generation Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), with ambitious mitigation and adaptation targets by 2035.
He also spoke about the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) System in the electricity sector, which already has more than 285 megawatts of solar photovoltaic energy in operation.
Among the projects, Téte António also highlighted the Cafu Canal, a $130 million investment that provides water to thousands of families in the south region of the country, contributing to resilience against drought, as well as community adaptation projects, agroecological planning, and the empowerment of rural women.
The minister said that Angola is preparing to submit new programs such as the National Adaptation Plan and the Climate and Environmental Observatory, strengthening the country’s ability to align with global and regional climate goals.
