Africa-Press – Angola. The National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) registered a variation of 18.88% in August this year, representing a slowdown of 0.61% compared to July, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
Compared to the same period last year, the index represents a slowdown of 11.66 percentage points.
According to the INE, the health category recorded the highest increase, with a year-on-year variation of 23.69%, followed by transportation, with 21.07%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco (20.55%), and miscellaneous goods and services (20.54%).
In terms of contribution by expenditure category, food and non-alcoholic beverages contributed most to the increase in the overall price level in August, with 11.60%, while miscellaneous goods and services contributed 1.45%.
The transportation category contributed 1.09%, health 0.99%, and the remaining categories had rates below 0.99 percentage points.
During the same period, the provinces of Luanda (16.36%), Malanje (17.52%), and Huambo (17.69%) recorded the smallest price changes, while Cabinda, Namibe, and Cuanza-Norte had the highest rates, with 29.58%, 23.86%, and 23.81%, respectively.
