Africa-Press – Angola. The Manuel Rui Monteiro Cultural Center, located in the central province of Huambo, on Thursday made its digital services available following the launch of the institution’s official Internet Portal, aming for greater accessibility to social and cultural events by users.
The services will be provided through the website www.ccmr.gov.ao, which will be available for public interaction and updates on major social and cultural events, with national and international content, such as musical, theatrical and cinematographic performances, seminars, lectures, research and tourism.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Huambo provincial government, academics, and artists, in a ceremony presided over by the institution ‘s director-general, Gregório Chicola.
At the time, Gregório Chicola stated that the introduction of digital services was adopted to consolidate a government strategy for promoting culture and, above all, to be the first institution of its kind in the country.
He stated that these services are essential to eliminate geographical borders when it comes to promoting cultural values, especially Angolan reality, to the world, adding that the page offers this advantage and will provide the information in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and in an initial phase.
“Culture is dynamic and must be processed as quickly as possible. This speed can only be achieved with digital services, and with the internet it can reach places we can not be physically present, but we can reach virtually”, he emphasized.
The center was inaugurated in January 2024 by President João Lourenço. It receives an average of 1,000 visitors per week, with a number of different activities taking place.
