Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, on Tuesday left the country for New York, United States of America (USA), with the aim of participating in the session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN), which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.

The Angolan statesman, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, were bid farewell by the Vice President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and other state officials.

João Lourenço ́s participation in the UN General Assembly this year will be particularly noteworthy, as he will represent not only the country but also the African continent in his capacity as leader of the African Union (AU).

In this regard, he has an exhaustive and demanding schedule in store, as he will serve both as President of Angola as well as President pro tempore of the AU.

On his agend, as part of his participation, the Angolan statesman’s speech at the General Assembly plenary on the day of the open debate stands out.

João Lourenço’s agenda includes a large number of bilateral meetings with counterparts, high-level diplomats, such as foreign ministers, and important figures from the business world.
