Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, advocated on Tuesday in Luanda for a public business sector that inspires trust, promotes partnerships, and contributes to an inclusive and resilient development model.
Speaking at the opening of the Annual Meeting of the Public Business Sector (E-SEP 2025), José de Lima Massano highlighted the need for public companies to be committed to the future, and “not merely reactive to needs, but proactive in building solutions.”
He noted that in developing countries—such as Angola—where the private sector does not always reach all regions or fully respond to the needs and citizens desires, public companies play a strategic role, as they guarantee access to essential services such as energy, water, transportation, information, and communications.
The minister said the government is implementing a broad program of economic reforms that seek to optimize the role of public companies in the economy, based on strengthening governance and accountability, efficiency and sustainability, private sector integration, and national development.
Regarding private sector integration, he spoke of strengthening the strategic partnership with the public sector, aiming to streamline value chains, accelerate industrialization, and promote economic diversification.
The Annual Meeting of the Public Enterprise Sector (E-SEP 2025) is a time for taking stock and reporting, as well as recognizing past achievements and mobilizing for future challenges facing the public enterprise sector.
The current edition marks the introduction of the acronym E-SEP, which symbolizes the process of modernization and repositioning of public companies in the country.
