Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan swimmer Lia Lima, in the senior class, won the gold and bronze medals in the 50 and 100 meters mariposa, both in the city of Coimbra, Portugal.
Gold was won with a time of one minute, four seconds and 74 hundredths, bronze in 29 seconds and 35 hundredths.
Evolving at Sport Lisboa e Benfica, the 20-year-old athlete’s feat, affected on 1º de Agosto, was achieved last Sunday, during the dispute of the 14th Meeting of Coimbra referring to the 33rd edition of the absolute International Tournament “Queima das Fitas”, which took place over two days in the 50 meter pool.
The second position was occupied by Adriana Louro, from Gualdim Pais, with the mark of one minute, four seconds and 98 hundredths. Maria Moura, from Sporting Clube de Portugal, with one more second completed the podium of the competition with a total of ten competitors.
In 2018, Lia Lima, experienced in international competitions, had also won the bronze medal, in the 100 meters butterfly, during the dispute of the Meeting Internacional de Coimbra.
Lia Lima is part of the range of Angolan athletes whose minimum requirements are required by the International Federation of the sport (FINA), to compete in the World Championship to be held from June 18 to July 3, in Budapest, Hungary.
The competition marked the return of the butterfly expert, after a break due to personal issues, according to the swimmer.
The continental event took place on Saturday and Sunday, with the participation of 342 swimmers, of both sexes, representing 54 clubs, and was organized by the local Swimming Association, together with the Academic Association of Coimbra, in partnership with Portuguese Federation of the sport.
