Africa-Press – Angola. The possibility of financing, this fiscal year, the project to train human capital in the health sector dominated the meeting between the Angolan delegation and the World Bank on Monday (13), on the first day of the annual meetings of the Bretton Woods institutions, taking place in Washington,DC,United States of America.

At the end of the meeting, Gil Henriques, the National Director of Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Planning, said that health programs being prepared for the future were also analyzed, adding that three projects in this area have already been completed.

In statements to the Angolan journalists, the official said that the meeting also addressed financing for the production and transportation sectors.

Furthermore, Gil Henriques announced a visit to Angola by the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, for November of this year, in response to an invitation extended by Angolan President João Lourenço in September during the United Nations General Assembly.

In addition to the meeting with the World Bank and other technical meetings, also on Monday, the Angolan delegation, led by the Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, met with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

During the six days of meetings with the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Angolan delegation will also discuss cooperation with the IMF, with a focus on job creation, especially for young people, and improving the living conditions of the population.

Also planned is a meeting of the African Caucus with the President of the World Bank, as well as Angola’s participation in the G24 Ministers and Governors meeting, dedicated to the theme “Strengthening Domestic Resilience in a Shock-Prone World.”

The delegation, which also includes the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos, will also participate in a closed-door session for Southern and East African countries highly vulnerable to climate shocks, focusing on the theme “Protecting Livelihoods and Jobs with Scalable Financing Solutions and Catastrophe Risk Insurance in Africa.”

The delegation also includes officials from Angola’s Agency for Private Investment and Export Promotion (AIPEX) and the Ministry of Transport.

The annual meetings of the WBG and IMF conclude on Saturday.

Angola has been a member of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund since 1989 and, in recent years, has been consolidating its relationship with these institutions through specific programs aimed at improving the management and consolidation of national accounts, enhancing investment mechanisms, and promoting the country’s economic and social growth.
