Africa-Press – Angola. Angola currently has 3,355 health units built and equipped over the past few years, President João Lourenço announced on Wednesday, in Luanda, during his State of the Nation Address at the opening of the Parliamentary Year.
João Lourenço stated that the National Health System also has over 44,000 intensive care beds and 35 haemodialysis centers spread across 12 provinces, strengthening the health sector’s responsiveness and citizens’ access to specialized medical services.
He also highlighted that between 2017 and 2024, the government hired 46,649 new health professionals across the country, including physicians, nurses, and diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, which he considers an important step forward in improving the quality of services provided to the population.
João Lourenço emphasized that this progress was a direct result of the achievement of peace and the consolidation of national independence, which allowed the government to continuously invest in the rehabilitation and expansion of the health network.
“The development of the health sector is one of the Government’s priorities, as it reflects the State’s commitment to the well-being of Angolan families and to building a fairer and healthier society”, stated the Head of State.
