Africa-Press – Angola. The minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, on Thursday in Luanda met with the Angolan Ambassador to Serbia, Eduardo Otávio, as part of the ongoing sports cooperation with that European country.

At the end of the meeting held at the headquarters of the ministry, the diplomat, who replaced Emilio Sobrinho, told the press that it was aimed to prepare his mission to Serbia taking into account the application of legal instruments with the local government in the field of sports.

The meeting also served as a time to evaluate the memorandum of understanding which was in need of guidance, in order to organize and implement the agreements to the happiness of both states and peoples.

According to Eduardo Otávio, the cooperation includes the creation of a Bilateral Committee that according to the minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, the Angolan side is already organized, but the Serbian side is still waiting for its implementation.

He said the Bilateral Committee will be tasked with creating conditions for organizing plans, depending on the sports, and implementing them.

It should be noted that at the end of the closed-door hearing, Rui Falcão did not speak to the press.

The meeting discussed the main areas of implementation of Presidential Decree No. 224/24, which establishes the foundations for multi-sectoral cooperation between Angola and Serbia, with an emphasis on sports as a strategic vector for human development and international diplomacy.

Serbia is known as one of the ten world powers in several sports, especially in basketball.

The initiative also seeks to promote training programs for Angolan professionals in the areas of sports medicine and anti-doping control, sectors in which Serbia has extensive technical expertise.

It also plans for the first quarter of 2026 the holding of the Angola-Serbia Business Forum, with focus on sports, academic and economic cooperation.
